Design & Mfg. Testing
Our expertise with rapid prototyping allows you to:
Our hardware designs will involve the proper processor and peripheral selections based on the needs of your project. Our engineers excel in a wide variety of processor families, including all ARM Cortex derivatives, as well as older '51 derivatives, 68xx, PICs, and MSP430s (one of our specialties is converting MSP430 projects to better processors). And, ESD hardness and low power operation is integrated from the start, rather than as an emergent afterthought during qualification testing.
Depending on the selected processor, our firmware can be tight assembly, portable C, C++, or Java. Regardless of language, our application of highly disciplined modular techniques result in easily maintained and portable solutions. In addition to the source and executables, all of our firmware comes complete with a set of interaction diagrams, state machine diagrams, interface protocols, and API documentation.
Where appropriate, our designs will include programmable logic of the right size, drawing from Altera, Xilinx, Actel, Cypress, and Philips.
Host test software
As a matter of course, most of our prototypes include host test software for ensuring proper functionality. These test software suites, hosted on PCs running Windows, Linux or Macs, often form the core for manufacturing tests and user applications, resulting in yet another significant schedule savings. Our host test software includes well-documented custom APIs, where appropriate, saving effort required to transition support of the project to your team. We typically use Python for these projects, especially for cross-platform projects.
Optional ultra-low-power operation
If your project requires the maximum in battery life, we can help. We specialize in optimizing power consumption by using the latest ARM Cortex devices, but also by ensuring that the entire design appeals to power budgets through the selective use innovative power supply designs, low-power interfaces, and low-power logic. Often, our clients find that their other projects improve through the cross-pollination of the ideas derived from our low-power designs.
Optional USB interfaces
As a USB vendor listed with usb.org, the USB vendor identification and standards organization, we can easily add USB capabilities to your project. Our deliverables include USB hardware, firmware, and host application software, including device drivers. This comprehensive approach to USB development allows you to provide your product base with a long-term multi-platform interface.
Optional network interfaces
Should your project involve a networked or remote solution, our capabilities to integrate LAN, TCP/IP and HTTP functionality into firmware projects can result in a significant reduction of your design cycles.
Our pricing models are flexible, and include hourly, fixed price, and fixed limit with performance bonuses. In addition, equity exchange for select candidates is available.
